What if I need an interpreter?
Provincial Language Services (PLS) staff are being trained in the Serious Illness Conversation Guide to understand the meaning and the intention behind each question. You can book an interpreter and request one who has had the Serious Illness Conversation training. Print a copy of the translated documents for the interpreter to use. Read the English version verbatim. Changing the English words would prompt the interpreter to change the translation to mirror your words. This may change the meaning and intention of the question.
